The East Texas Symphony Orchestra Association and the Tyler Museum of Art are joining together to present a special program as part of The Big Read 2010 on Sunday, March 7, at 2:00 pm at the Tyler Museum of Art.
Vocalist Lisa Sims, pianist Brian K. Piper, bassist Jeffry Eckles, and drummer Roland Muzquiz will take the audience on a musical journey through the Depression with classic songs by Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, George Gershwin and many others.
You'll hear favorites such as "Brother Can You Spare a Dime," "Cheek to Cheek," "Easy to Love," and "Summertime."
In conjunction with the concert, the Tyler Museum of Art will exhibit work by the renowned Texas photographer Keith Carter.
The event is presented as part of the Tyler Public Library's 2010 Big Read, celebrating John Steinbeck's classic novel "The Grapes of Wrath." The Big Read, a program of the National Endowment for the Arts, was organizes to promote literacy and encourage appreciation for literature.
